Miskinis Leads Bloomsburg Women's Basketball to Win over Mansfield

BLOOMSBURG - In her final game at Bloomsburg, Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) turned in a 25-point, 12-rebound, 8-assist performance to lead the Huskies' women's basketball team to a come from behind 72-69 victory over Mansfield (13-13, 6-6 PSAC East) on Senior Day.

Miskinis was in on the early action for Bloomsburg, connecting on three straight three-point shots to give the Huskies an 11-9 lead at the 15-minute mark. However, the game went back and forth with six lead changes and four ties over the next nine minutes. With the game tied at 24-24 with 6:08 to play in the half, Mansfield put together a 17-10 run to take a seven point lead going into the locker room at 41-34.

At the start of the second half, the Mountaineers took their largest lead of the game holding a 50-37 advantage with fifteen minutes to play. A 10-2 run by the Huskies, capped by a three-point play from Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven /Schuylkill Haven) cut the Bloomsburg deficit to only five points at 52-47 with 10 minutes left in the game.

Mansfield pushed their lead to double-digits once again with a 60-49 advantage at the eight-minute mark. However, an 18-7 run by the Huskies tied the score at 67-67 with 1:38 left in the game. A lay-up from Mansfield's Jessica Ehrich gave the Mountaineers a 68-67 lead before a Miskinis's fifth three-pointer of the game gave the Huskies their first lead of the half at 70-69 with 51 seconds to play.

After a missed jumper by Mansfield, the Huskies regained possession with :20 second left on a rebound from Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan). Two straight fouls from the Mountaineers sent Bloomsburg's Nicole Boone (Mountain Top/Crestwood) to the line where she connected on both shots to seal the Huskies victory after Mansfield's desperation three-point shot fell short at the buzzer.

Mansfield was lead by Urich who had a game-high 27 points while Jeanette Meacham recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Mallory Hafer added 15 points for the Mountaineers.

Miskinis fell just two assists short of a triple-double, but finished with a career-high eight assists, tied a career-high with 12 rebounds and was one point shy of her career total for points with 25 on the night. Kegerreis also had a double-double for Bloomsburg, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 boards. Joyce added 14 points, Boone had 10 points and eight assists and Kirby Johnson (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) chipped in with nine points for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg ends the 2006-07 season with a 7-20 overall record and a 3-9 record in the PSAC East.
